Summer Events at Glebelands City Growers

We were really pleased that so many people came along to Open Farm Sunday on 12th June, despite some very wet weather indeed.  The mayor of Trafford, Jane Baugh, got things going with some very cheerful words at 11.30 which inspired everyone to pull on their waterproofs and set out with Ed for a tour of the site.  Tea and cake awaited them on their return.  Fiona from the Forgotten Fields project (http://kindling.org.uk/forgotten-fields) and local history expert Pat Coulburn provided fascinating exhibitions in the yurt and spent the day talking to visitors about the local area and it's long history of market gardening.  Len Yeadon of Ashton-on-Mersey also brought down his lovely 1951 Ferguson TED 20 tractor for the day - it was much admired.  And Beth and Alan from www.digfood.co.uk provided a taste of summer with their wonderful strawberries and cream!  Thank you to all of them for spending their Sunday with us.
